Odia entrepreneur and technocrat Bobby Mohanty has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Maldives in Mumbai. The appointment has been recognised by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind and his tenure will continue till November 14, 2023.
An alumnus of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Mohanty has a master’s degree in science and technology. He has been the chairman-promoter of four companies in the field of consulting, trading and marketing in heavy engineering equipment, spares and services. He is also an investor in start-ups and cutting-edge technologies in India, Indonesia and Singapore.
A philanthropist, Mohanty has founded the Bobby Mohanty Foundation (BMFT) which is working at the grassroot-level in various blocks of Cuttack district to improve the life and livelihood of the poor and rural masses. The BMFT works in key areas like education, skill development, livelihood generation, health, women’s empowerment and sports development.
Social Service
Founder Trustee, Bobby Mohanty Foundation since 2004 with the avowed aim of serving the rural masses and the poorest of the poor of Odisha in Badamba & Narasinghpur blocks by consistently promoting skill development and awareness to minimize rural poverty.
Adult Literacy Campaign (ALC): BMFT have initiated these ALCs across 197 villages and made 5910 participant members literate to put their signature and understanding alphabets and basic numbers.
Sponsoring for Higher Education
Poor meritorious students from both the blocks have been identified where BMFT will sponsor them to pursue their higher education.
951 high school students (best 3 from each school those have secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the high school board examination 2018) have been identified and felicitated in public to recognize their potential
Promotion of Odia language among IV to VII class students: To improve oratorical skill and writing s kills among the IV to VII class students in Odia language under BMFTs ”Suddha Odia Pathana, Likhana “0“ Kathan Program”.
Livelihood Promotion
Marketing linkage of finished products: Acting as a bridge between the producer’s group marketing agency like ORMAS/ NABARD.
Tailoring Training Center (TTC) : 81 batches of 3 months tailoring training program completed till Dec 2018 covering m ost of the Gra m Panchayats in Badamba and Narasinghpur, where 60+ master trainei-s were groomed.
Impact: Potential of earning additional income in the range of Rs. 2500 — 3500 per month/per household.
Mushroom cultivation: 1800 women in 22 GPs have been imparted training. These women have been entrusted with the task of imparting training to 4 other women each (1800 x4=”7200j. Trained women can add additional family income in the range of Rs. 1d0U – 2200 p/m.
Agarabati (Incense Sticks) making: 1450 women trained. Wooden planks & raw materials provided for Agarabati making. Credit linkage established tor 75 women. Market linkage established. Additional family income in the range of Rs. 12U0 — 15O0 per month/per household.
Phenyl & Candle Making: 1450+ women trained. Credit linkage established for 68 women. Market linkage established Potential of earning additional family income in the range of from 1250 — 1750 per month. CandIe making 100+ women trained.
Health/ Hygiene
Health camps were organized in several GPs benefiting the people requiring and Sanitation medical assistance.
Focus was on to identify the kidney related diseases where almost all the villages are not being firmly ascertained. [Subject experts have already been engaged to find out the root cause of kidney disease is being taken care of by deploying the experts in various field. It may take 2/3 months to find out the reason. This will help to initiate required steps to prevent the kidney disease from its root.
BMFT is actively engaged in creating awareness among the adolescent girls to use sanitary napkins for menstrual hygiene.
We are a partner to the National Flagship program Swachha Bharat Abhiyan and constructed 60 model toilets with our BMFT contribution.
Apart from construction, BMFT has undertaken several drives to ensure its use and their contribution to make the village Open Defecation Free.
Advocate with Government counterparts to adopt this model toilets in other locations.
Sports Materials Support
Sports materials like Football, Volleyball, Carom and Badminton sets have been provided to the 300+ rural youth clubs to refine their sporting skills.
Infrastructure development under this program was always a priority for BMFT where monetary assistance will be provided to the youth clubs to promote playground activities.
Social Awareness
BMFT is working as active facilitator of creating awareness among community for hassle free enrolment of their names into various Government Welfare and Security Schemes/ programs.
Promotion of door-to-door campaign to enhance Anti-corruption movement.
BMFT promotes anti-liquor movement with the active involvement of rural women.

Contribution for building chemical lab, microscopic lab and smart class in Geology Dept. of Ravenshaw University, Cuttack.
Support for inmates of Orphanages (Shradhalaya in Cuttack & Servants of India, Choudwar).
Provision for entire welfare facility / marriage mandap within the Shiva Temple premises at Sargipalli in Sundargarh.
Yearly distribution of water pouch to devotees during Rath Yatra at Puri, Narasinghpur and Badamba. Out of State of Odisha:
